Zenplicity was founded by myself, Katleen De Gruyter. I originate from Zonhoven, Belgium. In 2003, I graduated as a Physical Therapist at the PHL, Hasselt. Thereafter, I went to Leuven to specialize in Psychomotor therapy at the KUL.
In the fall of 2005, I took an internship as a bodyworker at the Good Life Spa in Sint Maarten, Dutch Antilles. Little did I know this was the start of a 3.5 year adventure away from home. After I finished my internship, I focused on freelance massage work at the vacation rentals on the island and on the megayachts.
Pretty soon I met Fleur Sayer, who founded Compassion in Action, and was in charge of providing spa treatment to the villa rentals in Sint Maarten. Fleur had a wonderful vision and took on her mission together with 4 other lovelly therapist. She invited me openheartedly to work with her and so I did for the proceeding 2-3 years. It was a wonderfull time and I always felt blessed to work with the Compassion in Action therapists.
Somewhere in between, I discovered Reiki and got initiated for Reiki I and II. I took a course on traditional Chinese Massage and most recently (June 2008) immersed myself in a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course at the Kripalu resort in Lenox, Massachusetts.

In July 2008 I returned home. Travelling had tired me out and I wanted a home again. I worked as a PT over the summer, which I was grateful for, but something was missing. I missed the holistic and intuitive approach. I missed the meditative work of an energetic massage. I also wanted to give my clients a wonderful experience that allowed them to come home inside themselves. Furthermore, I wanted to give people the possibility to receive relaxation at home. That’s how Zenplicity came about.
Zenplicity was introdues to the public at the first annual wellness conference in Hasselt, Belgium on October 3,4 and 5 2008.
